Hip And Knee Pain For 14 Months

Hello. I am 34 year old Caucasian male, live in eastern Canada. Today I weigh 175 pounds but over a year ago when my problem started I was around 155. I have been an avid runner and vegetarian for almost 7 years. 3 years ago I ran a 100 mile race, and recovered from it. The following running season was great for me, but no races because of covid.

2021 I slowed down a lot, and seemingly out of nothing I developed some hip and knee pain in my right side. I thought nothing of it, figured a few weeks rest it would go away. 14 months later and it’s still here.

I’ve seen multiple doctors, physios, massage therapists. I’ve had xrays and scans, none of which find anything relevant. I’ve tried exercising, not exercising, yoga, stretches, running, not running, biking… I feel like I’ve tried a lot. I’ve iced, done ice baths, done cold showers.

If I take some days off all activity the pain will lessen, but not disappear. If I run, or exercise my lower body the pain will become worse afterwards and remain for a day. This week I’ve been trying to just suffer through it, I run every day. While running it is mostly pain free just slight pain getting started. Once in a groove no pain. Then afterwards the pain returns and won’t go away. It gets so bad it’s hard to walk, hard to go down stairs especially. Pain in hinging at the knee. And tightness in the glute.
